I am dually qualified as an Educational Psychologist and a Paediatric Neuropsychologist. I completed my Educational Psychology doctorate in 2009, and worked within a local authority with specialisms in grief, loss and critical incidents. In 2016, I became Lead Psychologist in a large specialist school and rehabilitation centre, Young Epilepsy, and developed an expertise in Neuropsychology and epilepsy. Since 2021, I have worked in the Neuropsychology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital, specialising in epilepsy and associated difficulties. I also have experience of other fields, including ABI, TBI, neuro-oncology and birth trauma. I completed Neuropsychology training in 2023.
I am a visiting speaker at UCL (on the Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychology and Educational Psychology courses), and I have published in a number of peer reviewed journals. I have degrees from UCL, Bristol, Cambridge, Harvard and Edinburgh universities. I now live in Somerset with my husband and two children.
As an Educational Psychologist and qualified teacher, my interest lies particularly in how a child’s neurocognitive difficulties present in educational settings, and what school can do to help the young person to overcome adversity. I believe that with the right support, schools can play a vital role in cognitive rehabilitation.
I take a 'biopsychosocial' approach to neuropsychological assessment and intervention, focusing on the child within their broader social and educational context. I use a combination of questionnaire data, testing and clinical interview to build an understanding of the child's needs. Recommendations are always evidence-based and uniquely tailored to the child.
I am an HCPC registered practitioner psychologist, a BPS registered chartered Educational Psychologist and a member of the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists. I have experience of working across a range of settings, including schools, early years settings, rehabilitation centres and hospitals.
